【摘要】:Theidentificationofthecrystallinestructuresinwater-formeddepositsassistsinthedeterminationofthedepositsourcesandmodeofdeposition.Thisinformationmayleadtomeasuresfortheeliminationorreductionofthewater-formeddeposits.1.1ThesepracticesprovideforX-raydiffractionanalysisofpowderedcrystallinecompoundsinwater-formeddeposits.Twoaregivenasfollows:SectionsPracticeA-Camera12to21PracticeB-Diffractometer22to301.2Bothpracticesyieldqualitativeidentificationofcrystallinecomponentsofwater-formeddepositsforwhichX-raydiffractiondataareavailableorcanbeobtained.Greaterdifficultyisencounteredinidentificationwhenthenumberofcrystallinecomponentsincreases.1.3Amorphousphasescannotbeidentifiedwithoutspecialtreatment.Oils,greases,andmostorganicdecompositionproductsarenotidentifiable.1.4Thesensitivityforagivencomponentvarieswithacombinationofsuchfactorsasdensity,degreeofcrystallization,particlesize,coincidenceofstronglinesofcomponentsandthekindandarrangementoftheatomsofthecomponents.Minimumpercentagesforidentificationmaythereforerangefrom1to40%.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoconsultandestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecificprecautionarystatementsaregiveninSection8andNote20.
